Executive Researcher - Juruá Institute - Brazil

I coordinated the education and capacity building working group, supporting the planning and execution of projects developed by local associations in Protected Sustainable Use Areas in the Amazon. The projects addressed a variety of themes, such as community management of game species, community management of river turtles, community management of pirarucu (arapaima), and sustainable extraction of non-timber forest products for the production of essential oils, among others. I developed indicators to monitor the results of community management and understand how the use and management of bushmeat impact the well-being and livelihoods of local communities. I coordinated the fundraising working group, focused on obtaining funding for the development of the institution's projects.
